Don't be fooled by the name of restaurant "la taverne"! The kitchen is fine and is cozy sitting on the terrace on the side of the hill. During the high season reservations are recommended! Coutures is a village about 20 minutes from La Moulinasse, not a sight in itself but the restaurant in the centre is worth a visit. Contemporary-inspired French cuisine served by a pleasant hostess. "L'escapade gourmande" is known in Ribérac for its rich pizzas. These are unique in composition - especially those named after the surrounding villages - but very tasty. In addition to pizza, traditional French dishes are also served (with the exception of Sundays and Mondays). Closed on Sunday afternoon. Attention: in the weekend it can be very busy here. Servanches is a small village tucked away in the La Double forest, about 20 minutes from La Moulinasse. The restaurant La Clarière makes it worth a visit. We tried this one on the recommendation of friends and it was more than up to scratch: Le Saint Aquilin restaurant in (where else?) Saint-Aquilin (25 minutes by car). A lovely meal, featuring local products and dishes with a modern twist. Friendly hosts; the only slight drawback is the lack of a terrace.

'Au Cochon Prieur’ in Aubeterre-sur-Dronne was taken over by a young couple. The menu still features French regional dishes, but these have now been given a contemporary twist and are of a gastronomic standard. The menu has also been expanded to include dishes other than pork (don’t be misled by old reviews).

La Pena Eulalia, in the centre of Saint Aulaye, bills itself as a ‘village bar-restaurant’, a meeting place where a friendly atmosphere is key. Make no mistake, the food and drinks are better than in the average village pub! During the summer months, there’s a concert every Friday evening. The terrace on the market square is a real bonus.

Auberge du Pauly is only a stone's throw from La Moulinasse (2.5 km). The kitchen is rather Breton inspired: on the menu are several galettes, savoury filled buckwheat pancakes. But also salads and grills are not lacking on the menu and sorbets with very special flavors. And there is also an extensive cocktail menu, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. A ‘guinguette’ is an open-air bistro – not fancy, but very convivial. You’ll find one in the neighbouring village of Epeluche, near La Moulinasse and by the Saint Aulaye beach. The guingette in Saint-Séverin is reopening this summer as a spin-off of the restaurant La Pena Eulalia – I can’t wait to check this one!
